Antonio Civitella (2018)
2018 Outstanding Graduate Award Winner
Mr. Civitella began his career as a computer software intern with James Forth & Associates, a management-consulting firm. He successfully developed and launched the company’s flagship product, Transfinder Pro. As Vice President and COO of Forth & Associates, he purchased the company in December 2000 and became Chairman and CEO. He changed the company’s name to Transfinder to reflect the focus on the products and services for pupil transportation. He has since successfully led the development of the company’s full product line, management and support teams to serve a client base of more than 1,700 school districts in North America.
For the past nine consecutive years, the company has made Inc. magazine’s Fastest-Growing Companies’ list. In 2013, Transfinder moved into its new $7.0 million corporate headquarters located in downtown Schenectady at 440 State Street. In 2015, the company opened its first satellite office in Austin, Texas as well as an R&D center in Shanghai. Mr. Civitella has also created a business accelerator in downtown Schenectady, called New York BizLab. The tech accelerator has three tenants in-house with two more moving in in 2016.
In 2014, Mr. Civitella received the inaugural Entrepreneur of the Year award from his alma mater, Siena College. That same year, he was named Newsmaker of the Year by the Albany Business Review, and Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Administration. Time Warner Cable News labeled Mr. Civitella one of the region’s biggest “movers & shakers” in 2014 and the Albany Business Review labeled him a transformational figure in the region.
In the Capital Region, Mr. Civitella is a member of the Center for Economic Growth’s board of directors, Ellis Hospital’s Foundation board and NBT Bank’s board of advisers. He also is a member of the TECH Valley Software Alliance of the Capital Region and the Schenectady Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Civitella is also active in industry organizations such as the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS), The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO), New York Association of Pupil Logistics (NYAPT), the Texas Association of Pupil Logistics (TAPT), the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO) and the New Jersey School Transportation Supervisors (NJSTS).
