Susie Walsh (2012)
2012 Robert Ludwig Teacher of the Year
Susie Walsh started teaching at Schenectady High school in September 2002 after working as a Marketing professional in the financial industry for over 10 years. Susie was a key member of the High school redesign when ‘Houses’ were formed and earned the Walmart Teacher of the year for her work with the Global Commerce learning community. Susie served as the team leader for the 9th grade academy which was the highlight of her career.
Together with her team, the 9th grade academy transformed both teaching and learning practices into an accountable and inclusive environment for both students and teachers. In 2012 Susie was honored for her work with the academy and recognized that it takes a whole team to achieve success. Susie was the Schenectady Teacher Center Director for over 5 years and worked to transition the center from a grant award system to a true teacher resource for professional development.
Susie has served as a class advisor for over 10 years, the Inspiration Gospel Choir advisor, yearbook teacher/advisor along with many other leadership roles throughout the district. Currently, Susie teaches 11th grade at the high school and welcomes many students into her reading and crochet clubs.
