She wants buy drum stands for their Djembes (drums) so that smaller stature children will be able to participate in percussion ensembles. More students will be able to have the drum experience and will be better prepared for an artist in residence program
Beninati, Diane: Howe $1656.00
The grant will allow 11 kindergarten & 2 self-contained rooms to experience and learn about animals from around the world The $ is for busses for a trip to Animal Land. Kids will create a book about the animals as follow up.
Bennett, Tricia: Hamilton. $475.00
She wants to take her students to the Children’s Museum of Science & Technology in Troy for the What’s Eating What program.
Crawford, Susan: MPMS. $500.00 Partial of $200
The money will be used to offset the cost of the 8th grade trip to Washington, DC. The trip is sponsored by the MPMS Travel Club. It will be used for scholarships for high achieving needy students.
David, Lisa: ACC at Pleasant Valley $395.00
The money is for materials for the Parents as Partners after school workshops. Kids teach parents what they have learned. Projects include pottery, painting, sculpture. Twelve kids are involved in the program.
Gerbini, Antoine & Schaefer, Molly: SHS $500.00
The money is to be used to buy materials for use by the French Culinary Club. They will learn how to cook French food and will teach their families.
Gleason, David: SHS $563.27
The funds will be used to complete their ensemble of Brazilian instruments. Brazilian music is a major part of the program.
Gundrum, Louise: SHS $298.50
She wants to buy 30 copies of Les Miserables for the UHS English class. They are going to the play and she wants them to read it as preparation. Follow up will be discussions and an essay.
Hawk, Krista: SHS $500.00
The SHS Women’s Choir has been invited to accompany the St. Rose Chorale on a performance trip to Costa Rica. Cost is $1300 per student. They are fund raising and the money would be used to help with the costs.
Hudak, Becky: Paige $500.00
She wants to buy books for the MS literacy room for use by 50-60 students. It includes reimbursement for books she has already bought. She wants high interest lower reading level materials.
James, Faith: Elmer $269.85
She wants to purchase an individual reading program for the third graders called Raz Kids, a reading leveled program with a variety of fiction and non-fiction books K-6, so they can individualize. They will use district assessment materials and procedures for assessment.
LeBarron, Barbara: Woodlawn Elem $729.00
She wants to take 75 fourth graders to Maybee Farms Historic Site. The money is for transportation and admission. Students will experience Dutch colonial history in a “real life” setting
Longe, Lisa: SHS. $950.00
She wants to buy two digital pianos for use with all of her students. Existing pianos are in bad shape. They will be used for instrument instruction and for chorus and orchestra.
Mark, Elizabeth.: MPMS $766.00
She wants to fund the Connecting with New York State’s History project. Students read The Last of the Mohicans, research NYS history and tour Ft. William Henry. They money will be used to pay for bus and admission at the fort and a tour on the Minnie-Ha-Ha.
Obman, Eric: Hamilton $2200.00 Partial of $700
The money is to pay for a three day circus arts-in-education program by Larry Rundle. There would be a whole school assembly and a series of introductory workshops over a period of 3 days. Several sets of materials will be purchased for future use.in the Phys. Ed. program.
Sabbatino, Alyssa: MPMS $2097.65 Partial of $1000
Funds will be used to purchase different fictional texts for use in the ELA classroom. They are starting a new curriculum and need materials for it. The emphasis is on more individualized instruction & different leveled books.
Scotto, Madeleine: Fulton & Howe $415.63
She will buy materials for the Little People marching Band Readiness Set to teach beginning music reading. They will be used with kindergarteners. She will use authentic assessment.
Servant, Joel: SHS $1650.00 Partial of $800
The Schenectady High School Marching Patriots want to buy a drum major podium. It is needed for the field show marching band.
Shannon, Kevin: SHS $1500.00
He wants to take (30?) students to an international Robotics competition in Rochester. He wants us to fund half of the cost. Success will be documented throughout the project and preparation stages.
Steinbeiser, Michelle: Keane $788.00
She wants to buy a projector screen for use in assemblies and other whole school events.
Wolfgram, Jennifer: Woodlawn $653.70
She will buy 6 Nooks for small group reading, individual reading and read aloud. Reading assessments currently used in the district will be used to measure success.
Wright, Christine: KBB Early Childhood Center $600.00
She wants to buy the Pre-school Zoo-per Phonics program for her classroom. She teaches k-1 life skills and the program would be used in daily instruction. She has 10 kids and she will use existing district measurement instruments to measure success.
Zotta, Angela: Keane $717.53
She will buy grades 4-6 fiction & non-fiction book sets for her room. She will use the tools currently used by the district to measure reading success.
