She wants to buy 2 Orff Instruments and mallets (like xylophones) for use with K-6 Students. They are easy to use for all students and help students develop musical and physical skills. They will make recordings.

She wants to buy 2 wireless weather stations so students can monitor and track weather phenomena. They will create journals, analyze data and publish weather info on the district website.

They will have two days of presentations by the Scotia Children’s Museum. Every student at Fulton will attend one of the presentations. Topics: furry animals & birds

She will buy books, leveled reading sets, and Scholastic instructional materials for a classroom library in a self-contained classroom to supplement Eng. & Social Studies.

She will purchase 10 Kindles and $500 worth of books for struggling readers in grades 3-6. They will be used with students who are way behind and they hope it will improve attitudes towards books and reading.

She will buy biotechnology perishable kits and tickets to the Body Worlds Exhibit. IB Students will be able to conduct experiments ($650) and $800 will be used to subsidize tickets for a trip to the Body Works Exhibit in NYC. Assessments include journals, surveys, radio shows, research products, and pre and post tests.

She will buy gloves, headbands, fabric, etc so that dance students (100+) can dance in the Holiday Parade and Downtown Schenectady Open House.

She want to buy 10 16GB 5th generation Ipod Touches and $100 in gift cards to purchase audio books,ESL apps, etc. for use with her Special Ed, students. They can look at films of the books they read, use the camera to create Vines or Vimeos, etc. There are many ESL apps she can use in her ESL ELA class.

The money will be used to offset the cost of the 8th grade trip to Washington, DC. The trip is sponsored by the MPMS Travel Club. It will be used for scholarships for high achieving needy students.

They will offer a Girls on the Run program to students in grades 3-6. It is a 12 week after school program teaching life skills, healthy living, etc.
David, Lisa: ACC at Pleasant Valley $355.12
She will buy a class set of Scholastic ART magazine to supplement the existing material and curriculum for grades 4-6. She will purchase a class set of white boards, markers, and erasers to be used with the magazines and to help assess learning.

Fifty fifth graders will go on a field trip to Mabee Farm. They will learn about Colonial life and arts. Students will engage in a scavenger hunt, complete a painting, and write letters about their experience.

She will buy Kindle Fires for use in small groups on projects and simulations that integrate science, math & technology. Assessment is through engagement & tests

His 3rd graders will write, prepare and perform a play for the entire student’s population. The money is for props, costumes, and scenery. Students will also write essays about the experience and its benefits.

They will buy at least 8 instruments for music instruction for the orchestra. Often students cannot do orchestra because they cannot afford to buy or rent them.

His percussion program has expanded greatly (over 100 kids) and drums need repair and replacement, so he want to buy more drums.

The money will be used to repair instruments, because the district no longer funds repairs. They need instruments to be able to march.

He wants it for seed money to buy materials so his students can make 10 coffee tables. Money earned by the sale of the tables would be used to pay back the foundation. This class has 6 kids, but the CAD students would also be involved.

It will be used for transportation to and admission costs for a trip to Mabee Farm

She wants to buy multiple copies of “Accent on Christmas and Holiday Ensembles” for various band instruments. The books will be used for holiday concerts and performances at Rotterdam Mall.

She wants to start a program called Drums Alive. It is a fitness program combining PE and music.

She runs the culinary program and will purchase adaptive culinary equipment for special needs students. They are safer and easier to use.

She wants to fund the Connecting with New York State’s History project. She will use the money to pay for field trips to the Stockade and the Mabee Farm.

They will hire a Horticulturalist to provide 20 hours of instruction and buy tools and equipment for Life Skills students using existing greenhouse.

They will buy sheet music for students in grades 4-8

They want to buy Time For Kids for all of the 3rd graders to support the Common Core Reading Standards for non–fiction, science and social studies. Focus on non-fiction reading skills. Assessment: activities and assignments.

They will bring in a children‘s author, Sharon Wyeth ($2,500) and buy copies of one of her books for use with their 3rd graders.

The Schenectady High School Marching Patriots have been invited to participate in the National Independence Day parade. Half the funds will be used to help defray the costs of the trip and the other half will be used to buy needed percussion equipment.

Scotia-Glenville Museum runs science programs for K-2 students. Assessment will be through student writing and drawing and kids will teach kids.

He wants to buy trampolines for his PE classes. They will be used with students in two self contained classes of students with a wide range of disabilities. If the district says he can have this kind of equipment.

They want to take their 4 1st grade classes to Adirondack Land. The grant would pay for everything. Students will write an animal research report.

The money is used to establish materials for a cross-curricular study on Ecology in both English and Science. Formative & summative assessments will be used.

She will fund a piñata after school program. Students will construct the piñatas (Mexican folk art). The proof is in the products to be used at International Night.
