Jerry Rosen (2019)
2019 Outstanding Graduate Award Winner
Jerry Rosen was not only a long-time teacher and administrator in Schenectady Schools, he was also a graduate of Linton High School. Jerry worked 33 of his 34-year career in education in the Schenectady City School District.
Jerry was hired in 1984 as a secondary science teacher and was tenured in 1987. He taught biology for 21 years at three schools including Steinmetz Middle School, Mont Pleasant and Schenectady High School. He was nominated for “Teacher of the Year” in 1994.
He went on to become dean of students. In 2007, he was named the house principal for the Math Science and Technology themed house at Schenectady High School. He was tenured in 2010. Jerry served as the cohort principal for the Class of 2016 and 2020. He is currently retired.
During Jerry’s career in Schenectady, he coached basketball, golf and baseball. Under his leadership, Schenectady baseball teams won four league titles, a Section 2 title and the 2002 team was a state finalist.
Jerry was SAA Vice President, a member of the SCSD Athletic Hall of Fame committee and Chair of the SCSD Hall of Fame committee.
