Shane Bargy (2020)
2020 Outstanding Graduate Award Winner
As the Executive Director, Shane has helped grow the Boys & Girls Club’s reach from 9,000 to 12,000 young people since 2010. Under his leadership, the organization has also expanded to managing 18 sites, up from 10 in 2011. Shane, his dedicated staff and volunteers have helped enhance and create many partnerships that benefit the youth and families in Schenectady County. Some of the partnerships include the City of Schenectady and the operation of all four city swimming pools, managing key programs with Schenectady County DSS, Office of Community Services and Probation, proud participation in Schenectady Bridges (Bridges Out of Poverty), strengthened partnerships with the Schenectady City School District and Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority as well as an operating hub partner in the successful Breathing Lights initiative, to name a few.
He has been working in the youth development field for 25 years and is a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and The College of Saint Rose in Albany. Shane is very proud to say that he and his sisters were members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady’s Mont Pleasant Clubhouse as children. He resides in Schenectady County with his wife Jennifer and their four children.
