She wants to start a robotics club starting with 60 4th graders and expanding to others later. $ is for 6 robots and accessories and Wonder League Activity mats. They will build robots and compete Assessment: Contest judges and self-Assessment rubrics.

She and Brian Rhodes will take 50 Earth Science students to Thatcher Park for a field research experience using math & science skills. Transport, food, calculators. Assessment—discussion, display of student work.

Graphic novels for reluctant readers. Book Club of 12-25 students. Assessment—teacher report via a written summary and student survey.

Maintain Girls on the Run Programs at both schools for about 27 girls.  Promote self-confidence, positive values, language and math skills and involvement. $ is for T shirts, fees, food, water bottle.  Assessment TBD.

Class trip to Washington DC.  $ is for subsidizing some students who cannot afford it and maybe T shirts.  Assessment—State SS exam and a writing assignment.

She and Ms. Rice will expand classroom libraries. These are HIP novels and they come with quizzes for each novel.  46 6th graders.

Money will be used for books, videos,& a field trip to the Viaport Aquarium where students will use the knowledge of fish and animals they learned by classroom studies.  Assessment—student projects. 40 co-teach 8th graders and ESL students.

The Place of Peace Project will create a dedicated space for all students and staff to engage in mindfulness in education evidenced based practices, stress management, self-care activities and community involved workshops. Lots of information and theory on drumming, music, breathing exercises, etc.

She and Ashley Dodge want to buy a mobile music staff board for students to use to develop and improve their notation skills and understanding of musical concepts. It will be used by 110 band and orchestra students.  Assessment—better performances

Will buy materials for a baking cub of 10-15 students who will learn about budgeting, planning, basic math skills, and work with others. Assessment—Practical math applications pre and post data and math scores.

Connecting with New York State’s History project and 40 students (30 English as a New Language plus) will read The Last of the Mohicans and will do historical research. $ is for a tour of Fort William Henry.  Assessment: NY state language tests and presentations, e.g. power point, movie, written reports, etc.

Partner is Ben Rosenthal with other teachers & parents Field trip to Boston Museum of Science Planetarium for 112Earth Science students.  Students will be tested and will do a research project on modern astronomy. Goal 80%passing

60 reading class students plus other SCLS interested students will use fiction and non-fiction books purchased for her classroom library.  Assessment—Mid-year vs. end of year assessments, class discussions, quizzes, etc.

Purchase holiday coffee mugs, frames, etc. for students (up to 120) to give as presents. Assessment—student attendance.

Redick, Lindsay (redickl@): SHS $610
She teaches dance and does not have usable ballet barres.  She will buy two. 200 students take the courses.  Assessment—student and teacher reflections

55 6th graders will use books and other materials purchased for Math STEM projects including hands on interactive models and computer programs for science projects. ID’s a number of skills and standards.  Assessment—stem project chapter tests, etc.

Rottger, Cecilia (rottgerc@): Woodlawn $1,500.00
ENL Teacher 28 students.  The Book Exchange Literacy program provides parents with resources to develop and help children develop literacy skills.  Assessment—reading logs and library log. Will buy books and tote bags.

Russo, Maggie (RussoM@): MLK $1,250.00
She will complete a piano keyboard lab in the music classroom to be used by all building music teachers & 4th and 5th grade students(180).  It would allow all kids to be engaged at the same time.  Assessment—rubrics and benchmark assessments.

Sausville, Fran (sausvillef@): SHS $1,000.00 GE STEM
She will buy lab kits for her 25 Forensic Science students and a bus to visit a local forensic lab.  Hands on science skills. Assessment—unit tests compare to earlier students who did not have these lab experiences.

Schaefer, Molly et. al. (schaeferm@): MPMS   $1,188.00
All 3 middle schools are piloting a new course, Social Inquiry in the 21st Century. 300 students. $ will be used for a field trip to HVCC to help students be more career and college ready and to promote an ongoing desire for our students to want to go to college.  Assessment—scavenger hunt, snap stories, a rubric, etc.

Sheridan, Michael & 6th gr teachers (sheridanm@): Oneida $5,000.00 GE STEM WOMEN Girls in Space.
64 6th grade girls will spend 3 Saturdays with miSci and AMC staff.  Promotes women in STEM fields.  NB CLC experience.  This is the only proposal addressing this goal given to us by our GE donors.

Tebbano, Marcella et.al. (tebbanom@): CPMS $1,000.00
The CPMS Phys Ed Teambuilding Project involves all students. Students will engage in 7 different games purchased by PE department to help students improve physical and teamwork skills. Assessment—teacher observation, discipline referrals, student surveys.

Thornhill, Michelle (thornhillm@): SCLA Leadership Club $1,000.00
The club promotes pride in self, pride in school, pride in community. $ will be used to fund painting supplies for murals, gardening supplies, community events, speakers, etc.  This addresses an idea we promoted last spring.  Assessment—survey.

Wylie, Kathleen (Wyliek@): CPMS $930.00
She will purchase a class set of “You wouldn’t want to…” books by Fiona McDonald to be used with 400+ social studies students. Students will read them in small groups and then will create their own versions.  Assessment—student versions

York, Melody (yorkme@): Hamilton $500.00
$ will be used to buy books for students to read and art supplies.  15-20 students.  Students read, ID “found poetry”, and create an art project on the poetry. Students will be 4th and 5th graders identified with different learning styles.  She identifies a number of important skills to be developed. Assessment—Q&A, discussion, art project, reflection sheet.
