Abdulla, Victoria: Oneida $400 of $800 request
It Takes a Village Community Reading Program so students can read culturally relevant books. $600 for purchase of student selected books and $200 for reading celebrations raffle prizes. 110 students. Assessment=number of books read, student surveys, STAR and ELA test score improvement.
Barber, Keri & York, Melody: Hamilton $500.00
64 fifth graders will create tee shirts based on a favorite poem or poem line. Learning to read and interpret poetry and analysis. Cooperation between classroom and art teachers. $ is for materials. A rubric will be used to assess student work.
D’Alessandro, Kerri & LeBarron, Barbara: Woodlawn $790
The money is for bus transport and admission for a visit by 50 4th graders to Mabee Farm on June 5. They will learn about colonial life. Assessment: students create their own Colonial Living Museum and/or a decomposition and possible performance of songs from Hamilton.
Dreher, Jennifer: SHS $656
A field trip for 32 forensic science students to state police labs. Assessment will be a student survey.
4th grades at PV (Rebecca Benjamin): PV $1120
All 4th grade students and teachers will create a book to be published by Student Treasures. Students will go through every stage of developing and publishing. Can be partial? Assessment: the book, the release readings, a survey.
Garrigan (Linda), Snyder, Paniccia: Keane $500 of $1,000
Transportation and entrance fees for Keane 4th graders to NYS Museum I(Science Day) and Capitol and Saratoga battlefield. Students will do written reflections and write letters and tie trips to college and career aspirations.
Hawk, Krista & Dave Gleason: SHS $400
They will purchase 2 keyboards to replace old one. Assessment=recitals & the spring musical.
Hutson, James: Oneida $1150.00
He will purchase subscriptions to Mosa Mack for 115 students. It is a library of NGSS-aligned inquiry units containing 3 lessons using hands on labs, animated science films, and related challenges. Pre and Post tests for assessment.
Klein, Maria & LaFountain, Mary: Wash. Irving $850
They want to enrich their Place of Peace initiative by purchasing Brain Tap Technology, the Calm Classroom Kit, and EmWave biofeedback kit and software to help students learn how the mind and body works, recognize tension, incorporate progressive relaxation strategies, meditation techniques, etc. to help them cope with stress and function in the school setting. Assessment plans in progress.
Lamb, Jennifer: CPMS $1,562.62
She wants to create a percussion ensemble and will buy percussion instruments from around the world. Formative and summative assessments during lessons and performance. Student project is to create a piece of music.
Longe, Lisa: Woodlawn, Howe, PV $240
Purchase percussion practice pads for 11 students. Assessment via lessons, practice and concerts.
Mantei, Kristy: Howe $495.00
She will buy 10 refurbished computers, 20 headphones and I year of Sumdog for math, spelling, and reading. Sumdog has built in measures of improvement.
Mark, Elizabeth: MPMS $608.00
Money is for a field trip to the Stockade and Mabee Farm for 40 ENL/ESL students. Provides hands on experiences for students studying colonial Schenectady and historical fiction. Students rake reading tests, do a power point, skits, collages, and reading journals.
Metzold, Barton, M Pidgeon, G. Osenko, S Marting: CPMS $1282
30 7th graders in a fishing club need gear to learn about ice fishing, fly fishing, etc. Promotes love of nature, physical skills, patience, etc. Assessment via teacher reports, photographs, student survey.
Parrella, Stephanie: Van Corlaer $475 (AAUW funded)
Each of her 25 students will get 6 books to take home for summer reading. She sites importance of home involvement and dangers of summer loss of learning, She will compare June and Sept reading scores. SCSDEF has funded this in the past.
Peek, Monica: Paige $820.74
This is for a field trip to Viacom for 7 special needs students and for Social Thinking curriculum materials. Detailed rationale and explanation. Assessment: data about student behavior and social interactions.
Phelps, Megan: Woodlawn $375
She wants to buy assorted percussion instruments because she does not have enough.. Kids learn to read music, etc. Assessment is done in lessons by observation and in performances. 417 kids this year plus future.
Plumadore, Cassie: Washington Irving $500.00
13 students in a social development class will create a community service project using these funds for start-up costs (?) Assessment will be done with the NYSED Employability Profile. Students will do self-evaluation and create a power point.
Rowen, Jackie: Oneida $705.63
She wants to buy the K”NEX Thrill Rides kit for students to use as supplemental learning experience. By using this to build they will develop critical thinking skills, apply lessons from science, math, and technology, etc. Assessment is measured by numbers of kids involved and their demonstration of newton’s laws of motion, problem solving steps, etc.

150 8th grade Social Inquiry students will go on a field trip (bus tour of a community college, a SUNY and a private school) as part of the college and career unit. Last year HVCC generated a lot of enthusiasm for college among students. Assessment= student created flipigrams to be shown to other students and research projects.
Scott, Sarah: SHS $783.75
30 ELL students will do a field trip to HVCC and SUNY Cobleskill as a way to promote college and career awareness and aspirations. Assessment= a KNL chart and the number of college applications.
Shaver, Jessica & Bertnard, Christine: SCLA $350
Very similar to the one at Lincoln but for older kids, More detailed than Lincoln. Assessments are more specific.
Slater-Johnson, Deanne: Oneida $1248
She will buy 96 CDTA bus passes to teach 48 students how to use public transportation so they can explore career and recreational opportunities. There will be pre and post surveys.
Tebbano, Marcella: CPMS $497.67
Purchase of Bulzbucket games will enable students to develop lifetime sports activities and make use of math concepts and skills. Used by 750 students in Phys Ed. She will create a power point to report on student use and success.

268 Students in Pre-K, K, and 1-2 will engage in lessons provided by the CMOST Travelling Museum. Lessons include: Busy Builders, Animal Tales, Kitchen Science, Solar System. Assessment by teacher observation and student projects.
Viveiros, Tanya: Lincoln $230
Her 25 students will use the refurbished computers, headphones and Sumdog. Very little information on how they will be used.
White, Carrie & Flanders, Robert: Yates $355.57
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) wants to buy wireless microphones for students to use for skits, songs, etc. in the monthly character ed. Assemblies. Success will be measured by data on classroom behavior, timeouts, teacher interviews, etc.
Whittel, Holly: Lincoln $189.00
She, a Sp. Ed. teacher, and several of her colleagues will buy a therapy ball, calming tent, a pea pod, chewing toys for use with autistic students. They will track data on engagement/attending to classroom activities and track the number and duration of behavioral issues.
